The World Athletics Organisation World Athletics has officially placed the Wizz Air Sofia Marathon 2025 on the World Athletics Label Road Races | World Athletics, thus reaffirming the event’s global rank with the prestigious World Athletics Road Race Label.
“This is a great recognition for Sofia as the host of the largest sporting event of the capital, as well as for the quality of the organization of the marathon, said Anatoly Iliev, chief organizer of the Sports in Leisure Association.
“This success is expected to attract more and more runners from all over the world,” added Militsa Mircheva, who in April took the post of the marathon’s sports director with the ambition that her authority will contribute to making the event even more attractive for athletes from the international elite.
This news comes exactly one month before the end of regular registration for the Wizz Air Sofia Marathon, which will take place on 11 and 12 October 2025. Those wishing to register can do so until 20 September on the marathon website www.sofiamarathon.bg, after which the last chance to do so will be at a late price until 30 September.
