The Sofia Marathon is an event with traditions that is constantly evolving. In 2024, a number of positive innovations were introduced – a certified route passing by the city’s landmarks, eight stages with music and an artistic programme in six metropolitan districts, creating a festival atmosphere for competitors and spectators from over 60 countries. Last year Sofia Municipality took an active part in the organizational process by providing free public transport passes to the participants for the first time, which is expected to become a common practice in the future.
